Every coaching brand is suddenly food themed. We’re always “cooking up” a new offer or have a new “recipe for success.”
WHY?
It’s an overdone theme, but the point is: BECAUSE IT WORKS. And it’s stupid-easy, which I love.
(I say this as Pass the Queso, but back to that later.)
Themes are STRUCTURE–and I find most of my clients get into an easy flow with their copy after establishing structure.
Templates are the standard, go-to but you know how I feel about THOSE…
Using a theme doesn’t mean picking a single, random thing to revolve your whole brand around.
You should actually have theme(S). And this is how you do them differently:
Your theme(S) are like a coat of arms. Yes, we’re all knights today.
Traditionally, it’s used to get a quick glance at a knight and identify what he’s all about. Your themes do the same for your brand.
EXAMPLE:
My brand theme isn’t really queso.
The backstory is about connection via a tex-mex restaurant, so I’ll be tongue-in-cheek with a margarita machine giveaway, but my content isn’t filled with cheese puns.
My themes include:
- Oversharing, eavesdropping & storytelling
- Poop jokes (have you seen my About page?!)
- Loving anything that makes [fill in the blank] stupid-easy
- Being a sasshole & saying things I maybe shouldn’t
- Not sharing my food
- Being Texan and honestly, Buc-ee’s
None of these things are directly related to business.
Think of themes as HOW you deliver your messaging and content. And it’s part of making your Brand Voice tangible.
When I’m pressed for content or don’t know how to explain a concept, I look to my themes for guidance!
Everything is cohesive and “on brand” when I ~aLiGn~ with being myself and using themes.
→ Themes give structure.
→ Themes create consistent branding.
→ Themes establish recognition.
And best of all, themes make it stupid-easy to write copy.
Copywriting shouldn’t be hard, and I’m not just saying that.
You can write copy that converts and sounds like you. No copywriter required!
If you’re tired of hee-hawing over copy during content creation, you need to clarify your messaging and brand voice. Make that bish HEARD, then scalable!
